Leo's Fortune is a beautiful game filled with varied, detailed environments that include lush forest areas and icy landscapes, but spikes, planks, and crates drive many of the puzzles. When Leo falls into a pit or onto a set of spikes, the game places you just a short distance back from the fail point-you never have to replay large portions of a level. Numerous well-placed checkpoints prevent frustration and encourage discovery. The game design is suited for both long and short play sessions. The puzzle design is very fair, and each typically builds on gameplay elements you've mastered in previous levels. For example, one puzzle demanded that I float underwater boxes to a surface trigger that opened a gate that I had passed a few feet back. Leo's Fortune is filled with brain-teasers that require you creatively solve the weight- and momentum-based puzzles, but the challenges don't cross over into the hair-pulling realm. Leo's Fortune begins as a very simple game, but by the time you hit the start of the third stage (there are five stages in total), you'll notice that the puzzles have become increasingly complex. 1337 & Senri should be commended for the near-perfect difficulty curve. The physics-based puzzles are expertly combined with physical dangers, but the challenges never feel cheap.
